Some good news about Kip

Sounds like Kip's surgery went well yesterday. In fact, Dejan describes it as "the optimal outcome," meaning that all of his ribs are still in place and the recovery can be as quick as two months from now. A wire report on the surgery says he's expected back by the All-Star break, which would be incredible, given the seriousness of the blockage. Supposedly, the Pirates will release a statement sometime later today (they have quotes in the wire article but I don't see anything on the team website at the moment). This is about the best possible news we could expect, especially given the way guys like Santos and Vogelsong have thrown this spring (that is, not well).
