Some Friday stuff
Not much going on on this Friday, just some quick stuff to round up.
- Glenn Hoffman is going to the Padres to coach third base, meaning he definitely will not be our bench coach next year. Not that everyone didn't assume this already, as Tracy brought in Lett to coach third, which was Hoffman's spot in LA.
- Kevin Towers is staying in San Diego and he kicked off the hot-stove season with an awful trade, bringing the prototypical Coors Field player, Vinny Castilla, into Petco, the anti-Coors.
- Sean McAdam ranks the top free agents at every position. Don't worry, they're mostly out of our league. The only third basemen are Mueller, Jose Valentin, and Randa, unless you count Nomar at third as well. Somewhere, Freddy Sanchez is smiling.
- McAdam also has an article about why this free agent class is so weak,which more or less doesn't apply to us because, hey, we only sign weak free agents as it is.
