In this most exciting of series', the Cardinals have outscored the Bucs 3-2 over the past 2 games. The Bucs have managed a split thus far, which is actually kind of impressive given the 9 hits they've scratched out since Friday. A win today would be an unfathomable 5th out of 6th against the mighty Cards and let's face it, every time we beat them LaRussa's head has to get just a little closer to exploding. Today a couple of promising young pitchers face off, in Ian Snell and Anthony Reyes. You may remember Reyes as the guy that Dave Littlefield asked for in return for Craig Wilson, prompting the likely reply for Walt Jocketty, "Are you f***ing retarded? You want my top pitching prospect for a guy that you hate so much, you'd probably take Shawn Chacon for?" Reyes has been not so hot his last few starts, but if there was a doctor to order something for that, he'd probably order up a nice serving of the Pirates. Ian Snell, meanwhile, has been hitting the wall earlier and earlier in every start, so if I'm Jim Tracy I have a guy up in the pen in the 5th inning even if Ian is throwing a perfect game through four.
