Stranger than fiction

We all know Adam LaRoche starts slow. We all know he heats up with the weather. It's been very clear that he's been on fire of late, clipping along at .500/.594/1.000 over the past eight games and even .329/.417/.573 in the last calendar month (June 7th-July 7th). But how in the hell he's got an OPS+ of 95 on the year, well, that's completely beyond me. If he has one more hot week, his OPS+ will be higher at the All-Star break than it was for all of last year. How do things like this happen?
