Gotta bounce back

I think that a loss like last night's is one of the hardest to bounce back from. Even though the Pirates only had a one-run lead, the speed that the Reds turned things around last night was head-spinning and suddenly a game that the Bucs had pretty firmly under control was a loss. There's not many things that are more frustrating than that in baseball.

Tonight Edinson Volquez and Zach Duke face off at GAB and I think they provide a great lens to look at the Pirates and Reds through. Pirate fans are pretty excited about how Duke has pitched this year while Red fans are excited with how Volquez has pitched. Duke has been a middle of the rotation guy with OK stuff that's out-pitching his peripherals and not completely sucking. Volquez has been one of the best pitchers in the National League. Volquez is 24, Duke is 25.
