A strange thing for a draft pick to say

From Dejan's piece on Pedro Alvarez:

"It would be a privilege and an honor to get drafted by the Pirates," he said yesterday from Nashville, Tenn. "Right now, I don't know much about them, but I would get to know all about them if drafted."

Hopefully that means, "I won't be too much of a bear to sign if the Pirates' draft me. Something about Alvarez says that he should be our pick to me. More on this subject coming later in the week.
