Paulino may be demoted

All spring the new Pirates' front office and coaching staff repeatedly stressed "accountability," but I don't know how much came of it during spring training. Still, they were apparently serious because they're talking about demoting Ronny Paulino to AAA this weekend when Ryan Doumit makes his return to the active roster (that noise you just heard was Jim Tracy gasping for breath). It's a pretty straightforward move because Paulino doesn't hit better than Doumit and doesn't play better defense than Raul Chavez (actually, he doesn't hit much better than Chavez either). Sitting on the bench in Pittsburgh doesn't really help him fix either, so I think it makes a lot of sense to keep Chavez over him.
