Game 58: Astros 2 Pirates 0

Ahh, there's nothing like a combined shutout from the motley crew of Wandy Rodriguez, Chris Sampson, Doug Brocail, and Jose Valverde to remind what being a Pirate fan can be like. Those guys certainly didn't have overwhelming stuff tonight (only five strikeouts among them), but they held us to five hits, one walk, and one real scoring chance, where we loaded the bases in the sixth inning but obviously failed to score. Not a great night for the offense.

On the flip side of things, Dumatrait had another, "meh" outing where he didn't give up a ton of runs, but didn't really impress beyond that. He put ten guys on base in six innings (seven by way of base hit) and struck out four. He was bailed out a couple times early in the game by a line drive double play and a caught stealing, but then he did keep us in the game, which is all we ever ask from our starters anyways. Unfortunately, even that's not enough when we get shut out.
