A nice gesture

From today's PG Notebook:

The Pirates' players bought manager John Russell a bottle of vintage Dom Perignon in recognition of his first major-league victory. All 25 signed it, too.
If they were trying to make a nice gesture, wouldn't they have kept their names off of the bottle to keep from sullying it?

I kid, I kid. Actually, it's a really thoughtful move on the players' part and it makes me kind of think they might actually like the guy. That's a nice change from how they felt about Jim Tracy, which I wouldn't classify as dislike, but rather "crippling indifference."
