Decision making

Over at OnlyBucs.net Wilbur Miller has an excellent take on why everything the current front office does fails. It's an excellent read and I highly recommend it. It reminds me of something I just read in Ball Four,

In baseball a lot of decisions are based upon cost rather than ability. Cost is easier to judge.
The Pirates front office doesn't make the decisions they do because they have to (though they'd like you to believe that), they simply do it because its easier.
