Pirates 2 Giants 0

Ian Snell is the man. He followed up his great outing from Monday with 7 shutout innings tonight allowing only 3 hits and 3 walks (only 1 after the first inning) with 5 Ks over the span. We didn't get much offense, but we didn't really need it either, as the two solo homers from the Jose's were all that we needed. The pen closed things out nicely, with Gonzo only throwing six pitches to finish out the ninth, a nice departure from the recent Jose Mesa impression he's been giving us lately.

The game did have one bizarre twist, the Freddy Sanchez incident in the second inning. He was called out on strikes by home plate ump Rick Reed on a borderline pitch (but nothing particularly awful, I didn't think). The camera caught him mouthing "That's awful" to Reed and he stalked away. After about three steps he turned around and said something Reed that got him immediately tossed. He didn't stick around to argue, Tracy didn't come out to defend him, nothing. Freddy just walked back to the dugout looking extremely pissed. Then, strangely, he didn't leave the dugout right away. Reed didn't seem to mind that Freddy stuck around for the end of the inning to see Castillo homer, which seemed strange. There's no mention of it in the wire report of the game, so I truly don't know what happened beyond what I saw. I suppose it'll just go down as a footnote from an otherwise positive game.
