Lots of good news... now that doesn't seem right

Finally some good news to relay, Dave Littlefield has given in to Freddy Sanchez mania, saying to Dejan today:

If Freddy's going to hit .350, I think he should be playing third base.
Now there is some brilliance. I will assume that I am not alone in picking up the implication that if Freddy's not going to hit .350, he shouldn't be playing first base.

Also coming from the good news category is the announcement that Jason Bay is the NL Player of the month for May, the first Bucco to be so honored since Barry Bonds in 1992. It was kind of a "duh" selection, since he hit 12 homers, drove in 35 runs, and put up a 1.090 OPS, not to mention the fact that he won two of the month's Player of the Week awards.

While Bay may be the first Pirate Player of the Month in 14 years, Jose Castillo won the third in a row for the black and gold, thanks to his bananas week this past week. Seriously, you'd think we had a decent offense or something.

There is one piece of bad news to temper the good, Ryan Doumit tore his hamstring yesterday and is going to miss a significant chunk of time (6-8 weeks is what they're saying now). They've called up Yurie DeCaster to take his place, which presumably means sit on his ass until Joe Randa is activated sometime later this week.
