End of the Bay series

The Pirates face their past again this Sunday when they take the field against Jason Schmidt. Schmidt has returned to form this year after an off year last year, and he's been pretty much unhittable of late. In his last start he struck out 16 batters, a territory that no Giants pitcher had tread since Christy Matthewson (now THAT is impressive). Paul Maholm draws the unenviable assignment today as the Pirates try to do the unthinkable, win three games in a road series (they only had 5 road wins total coming into this series). A win today salvages the road trip, putting them at 4-3 over the 7 games, impressive given their 4-22 record coming into it.
