And while I'm at it

A bit late, but today's Stats Geek column brings up a very good point (this would've come sooner if Duquesne actually gave us newspapers during finals, I didn't have two finals, and didn't have to move home all today, or actually yesterday at this point in time). This column just begs one simple question. How does a team that played good, over .500 baseball last year in the months of April, May, July, and August, and if not for a 4-21 July and a late season swoon could have finished .500 get stronger at one of its strongest points (catcher), add a bat (Lawton) and a decent starter to the rotation (Mark Redman) and be THIS AWFUL to open the season? I dunno, I certainly don't have an answer. If I did I'd probably be managing, not blogging.
